How to determine Domain Functional Level

Not an everyday task this (once you’ve checked it you can usually remember what the level is!), but here’s how to find the Domain Functional Level of your Active Directory domain and whilst there check for any trust relationships with other domains.

1. Open “Active Directory Domains and Trusts” from “Administrative Tools” on your Start Menu. (If this isn’t present Windows XP/2003 users should install the Windows 2003 Administration Tools Pack, Windows 7 users should install the Remote Server Admin Tools)
2. Right-click on the domain and choose “Properties”. The Domain functional level is displayed on the Properties dialog/
3. To view the list of relationships with other domains, click on the “Trusts” tab
