VMworld rebrands to VMware Explore
VMworld - the global VMware conference that has been running since 2004 is changing to “VMware Explore” and after a 2 year virtual stint is back in-person for 2022.
Where and When?
VMworld VMware Explore 2022 is going to be a global event with two main conferences in San Francisco, US and Barcelona, Spain plus a number of 2-day events
in other global markets. The US and Europe events are also featuring online content for those not able to travel- some sessions will be freely available on-demand or as replays.
Location | Venue | Date |
---|---|---|
San Francisco, US | Moscone Center | 29 August - 1 September |
Brazil | tbc | 19-20 October |
Barcelona, Spain | Fira Gran Via | 7-10 November |
Japan | tbc | 15-16 November |
Singapore | tbc | 15-16 November |
China | tbc | 17-18 November |
It’s too far in advance for the content to be confirmed (and there’s a call for proposals online at the moment), but VMware are advertising this event as the “center of the Multi-Cloud Universe” so expect plenty of cloud, containers, and hybrid workplace technologies to be on display.
The rebrand to VMware Explore has sparked some discussion amongst the #vCommunity of VMworld regulars - I saw a similar mix of concern and excitement back in 2014 when Microsoft reorganised/rebranded the ever-popular Tech-Ed conference into Ignite. In VMworld’s case thankfully the event won’t be switching to a US-only format and will be returning to Barcelona in the Autumn.
